Like other games, Capcom's new horror title Resident Evil 7 had its blood and gore toned down for Japan. Some of this was spotlighted in a new video from Censored Gaming, which begins by comparing a scene involving the poor deputy David Anderson. This post contains some Resident Evil 7 story spoilers.

As spotted and reported on by Kotaku, in the US version, he's murdered with a shovel, with his head put into a refrigerator for the player to discover. In Japan, Anderson's head stays attached to his body during the shovel attack and all the player sees is a picture of Anderson in the refrigerator. Later in the story, in the US edition, the player must reach their hand inside Anderson's body through the neck to retrieve a key in his stomach. In Japan, the player walks up to Anderson's corpse and the key is sitting in plain sight. Watch the video to see the differences for yourself.

In 2015, Censored Gaming showed off how Until Dawn's blood and gore was lessened in Japan. Go to Censored Gaming's YouTube page to see all of the channel's videos.

Resident Evil 7 launched for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC at the end of January. It shipped 2.5 million copies in its launch week, which was well below the first-week figures for Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil 5. Resident Evil 7 has now shipped 3 million copies.

In other Resident Evil news, Sony has released a trailer for the CG movie Resident Evil Vendetta featuring Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy--watch it here.
