See How Civilization 6 Unstacks Its Cities
Check out one of Civilization VI's key new features.
Two new trailers focused on different aspects of Civilization VI have been released, offering a better look at the new American civilization and the way the game spreads out its cities.
The first video (above) shows off how game unstack its cities. This is one of the key new elements of Civilization VI; whereas previous games confined cities to a single tile, choosing where to construct each component of your city is now a big decision. These can each benefit from placement bonuses, such as when the campus is placed next to a mountain or rainforest.
Aside from the other impacts this has on gameplay, like being forced to make decisions in war about which tiles to defend, it also makes for a more visually interesting world. Your city can unsprawl over a large area, with various buildings popping up all over, rather than having a single city tile surrounded by identical farms and markets.
The second video provides our first look at Civilization VI's American civilization and its leader, Teddy Roosevelt. As it explains, each civilization has two abilities: one based on the nation's history and another based on what happened when its leader was in charge. America has the Founding Fathers ability, which reduces the amount of time necessary to earn government legacy bonuses. Its leader-specific ability provides military units with a combat bonus when fighting on their own continent.

There are also two civ-specific units America gets: The P-51 Mustang has extended range and receives bonuses when fighting other aircraft, and the Rough Riders are horse-mounted units who earn culture when killing units while on America's continent, are more effective in hills, and don't cost much in maintenance.
Civilization VI launches for PC on October 21. For more, check out our look at how much of the game has really changed.
