We already knew Gears of War 4's new Dropshot weapon has a gruesome headshot animation, but now, Microsoft has released a new gameplay clip that shows off the weapon's unique "execution."

In this video, we see the campaign character Kait crush an enemy's head with the weapon and then launch the lifeless body across the map. She yells "Next!" after the job is done. Take a look:

Kait unloads the creature into the wall, but this video suggests it may be possible to fling a corpse at enemies, too.

The video also serves as one of the best looks we've gotten at the game's locations so far. This one is a dank-looking industrial environment with a gray sky overhead. It's not exactly clear if this is campaign or multiplayer.

Kait is one of Gears of War 4's three new main characters, the others being Delmont "Del" Walker and JD Fenix, the son of Gears of War hero Marcus Fenix. They are all featured on the game's cover.

This is the second new Gears of War 4 gameplay video released today, as producer Rod Fergusson showcased the Dropshot's devastating headshot animation earlier.

"The Dropshot fires an aerial mine that floats over the battlefield in a straight line as long as you hold the trigger," according to Game Informer, which got to see the weapon early. "The moment you let go, the mine spins downward violently. If it hits the ground, it drills for a second before exploding, blowing anything nearby into chunks. If you manage to nail a direct hit on the enemy, it drills directly into their head, decapitating them while their body convulses until the mine explodes."

The Gears of War 4 beta starts on April 18 for people who have played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, while all Xbox Live Gold members will get to jump in starting April 25. Check out this post for more on how you can get in.

The Gears of War 4 release date is set for October 11 for Xbox One. A PC version may also be released, but nothing has been confirmed at this stage. In other news, a gorgeous-looking trailer for Gears of War 4 was released last night during the Fear the Walking Dead season two premiere.
