Now Playing: GS News Update: Crash Bandicoot PS4 Remaster Trilogy Release Date

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

The official Crash Bandicoot YouTube channel has revealed some more footage of the remastered collection coming to PS4 this year.

This new video directly compares the Un-Bearable level from Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back on the original PlayStation to its spruced-up PS4 equivalent. Take a look for yourself below:

The footage shows off the game's upgraded textures and lighting, as well as a shift towards a somewhat more realistic art style.

That's not the only side-by-side comparison the game has received; the Cortex Power level from the first Crash Bandicoot recently got the same treatment, too.

Just recently, more PS4 gameplay from Cortex Strikes Back was shown off, featuring the subterranean level, Sewer or Later. Here, the remaster's superior character models and water effects were highlighted, albeit without a direct comparison.

The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy includes three old-school Crash games: Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. They were all originally made by Naughty Dog, though Activision's Vicarious Visions is making the PlayStation 4 game.

Vicarious Visions used the original games' level geometry, but the gameplay is rebuilt from scratch. Some new features for the updated versions include a unified checkpoint and save system (including manual and auto-saving), as well as a unified menu system. There will also be time trials available for each game.

The collection launches for PlayStation 4 on June 30, though it may not be exclusive to Sony's console. The original three games included in the pack, plus driving title Crash Team Racing and party game Crash Bash, were all exclusive to PlayStation when they were originally released, but subsequent games in the series have appeared on multiple platforms.

For more on the upcoming collection, you can take a look at another Cortex Strikes Back level, Hang Eight, or check out the game's introductory cutscene.

I wish they do

Crash Team Racing too. That was a great racing game and had nothing to do with Mario Kart.

I prefer the original style (in the context of playing an old game). I don't know what I was expecting but it seems they've softened all the colors, giving it a less eye popping appeal.

The article mentions "realism" but when you're playing as a cartoon character riding a bear down a hill I don't see where realism comes into it.

looks really nice.

I actually like both the original and remaster. Its not about nostalgia, but the original has that taste, not the taste with your tongue, but in style.
