Ahead of its release next week, Warner Bros. on Wednesday released the first full trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight's Batgirl-focused expansion, A Matter of Family.

In this DLC, which launches July 14, you'll get to play as Batgirl for the first time in the Arkham series. The expansion is set prior to the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum, which explains Harley Quinn's attire.

You also may notice that Batgirl appears to move much quicker than Batman as she deals with thugs. Also on display are some of her useful gadgets and other characters from previous games.

A Matter of Family will launch on July 14 through the $40 Arkham Knight DLC pass. The add-on will be sold separately starting July 21 for $7.

In terms of story, we recently learned that Batgirl will team up with Robin in the expansion to rescue Batgirl's father, Commissioner Gordon, who has been kidnapped by Joker.

The DLC was created by Batman: Arkham Origins developer WB Montreal, not Arkham Knight developer Rocksteady, and is set in a new area called the Seagate Amusement Park. The environment features a nautical theme, but is built on top of an oil rig that--naturally--is rigged to be a death trap.

What's the point? Gameplay wise, she's going to be identical to Batman.

I'd rather play as a different character, not just a reskin of a character we already have.

An outsourced dlc to the team who made batman origins, which was left with bugs and issues that would not be patched. And you outsourced the pc version of arkham knight, you guys don't have a good outsourcing track record. I wouldn't buy this until I read some community feedback.

Well that was probably about 75% of her DLC right there lol. (Bet its a 15 minute DLC again...) Also Harley went back to Arkham City Harley? Guess this is back like a year ago.

Now lets also hope they make a trailer for the PC patch fix! Showing how they screwed up and everything! :D First ever patch fix trailer! And maybe a few scenes about how they just rolled their faces on the keyboard while developing the pc version! ;)

@Get_Shorty: Joker is the one who shoots Batgirl and makes her paralyzed, where she becomes Oracle. Clearly this DLC takes place in the past before Joker shoots her.

@madcat_mikie: I highly doubt that. It would be reversely discriminating the premium edition purchasers (those who already purchased season-pass). My guess is that they'd throw in some retail exclusive (or console exclusive) dlcs such like prototype batmobile, scarecrow nightmare pack and etc.

PS4 and Xbone version worked perfectly well, if not for the costume swap glitch that makes it impossible to revert to the battle-damaged suit once you've tried a different costume.

Looks interesting, but the 8 minutes-long Harley Quinn/Red Hood DLC left a bad taste in my mouth. Challenge rooms last just as long.

So if this DLC can be completed within an hour and DOESN'T allow the use of Batgirl in challenge rooms, then I'll pass. Even if I love Arkham Knight and am almost done with the 100% NG+ run.

@Fandango_Letho: Yeah the DLC so far has been an utter joke. I was so let down with Harley Q's story DLC as it would have been epic to play as an interesting villain such as her with a deep story.

Probably finishing the main game today and looking to take on Harleys content after.

Also loved the game, I think its the best in the series, after going back to City and Origins this week. Batmobile had moments of being tiresome, but I enjoyed its presence, and I would rather have the variety of the batmobile chase/puzzle/platforming sections, as opposed to the excessive repetition (of brawling and lock-hacking especially) found in some of the past games.

Oh, you can see the rig from land in Arkham Knight. I was trying to figure out why what appeared to be an oil rig had a ferris wheel on it haha! That's cool.

Seriously not sure how or why they expected people to fork over $40 with the "promise" of completely undefined content additions, and especially with the entirely lackluster dlc offerings they've had in the past.

The had a sale if you pre ordered the game, you could have the DLC for 30. almost went for it too.
But Than I remembered how seeky and underhanded WB is, people just forget for some reason. Glad I didn't buy the DLC after the horrid PC release.
