Scream is one of the most successful horror franchises of all time, and the fifth movie in the series--titled Scream once more--is set to hit theaters in January 2022. To celebrate the fact that we're now exactly one year from the movie's release, a new teaser has been released.

Although the movie wrapped production in November, the teaser doesn't feature any footage from the film. It's simply a slow zoom into the series's iconic Ghostface mask, with the words "one year" appearing in its mouth. But it's exciting to know that we're only 12 months away from the next film in this classic slasher series. Check it out below:

Scream will see the return of many of the key cast members from the previous movies, including Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Marley Shelton. The new cast includes Jack Quaid (The Boys), Melissa Barrera (Vida, the upcoming In the Heights) and Jenna Ortega (Insidious: Chapter 2, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous). The film is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who previously helmed 2019's horror comedy hit Ready or Not.

Wes Craven directed the previous Scream movies, but sadly he died in 2015. Nevertheless, series creator Kevin Williamson is a producer, and in November he stated that "Wes would've been so proud of the film."

As well as Scream 5, there are also new entries in the Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre series on the way. Halloween Kills was originally set to be released last year but will finally hit theaters in October. The eighth Texas Chainsaw movie will also arrive this year--check out the poster here.
