Centropolis Entertainment (Independence Day and Godzilla-makers Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin's company) is touting its recently launched "Gateway for Sci-Fi on the Web," a portal site designed to direct Web browsers to other science fiction sites on the Internet - not coincidentally, sites about projects like Godzilla and Independence Day. The site features news, resource guides, and polls about sci-fi TV shows and movies. Oh, and games.

Centropolis is working with Mythic Entertainment on the site's gaming area, "the Centropolis Gaming Center." The area features two games created by Mythic: RPG Darkness Falls: The Crusade, and online paintball contest Splatterball Plus. Games Centropolis will be adding in the coming months include Mythic's based-on-the-Clive-Barker-films Hellraiser game and first-person action game Spellbinder, as well as the VR-1-developed turn-based strategy game Amerikon.

Centropolis is charging US$19.95 per month for unlimited play on its site. (You can join and play any specific game for $9.95 a month.) Until April 30, though, Centropolis is signing up gamers for a $9.95/month fee for all of its games.
