Monolith has opened a beta test signup form - linked below - for Sanity, its upcoming action game based on version 1.5 of the LithTech engine. In addition to the scavenger-hunt-style test application, the site features a 15.4MB trailer showcasing gameplay and voice acting samples.

Monolith revealed new information about the game's card pack expansions today. Sanity will feature 80 Talent Cards, which each give you a specific ability, such invisibility or Fire Shield.

As Jason Hall explains, "the neat thing is that these cards are represented in a data format that is a small, encrypted, secure, text-type plug-in file. The Sanity game engine takes these files, when present, and then produces the effect/weapon/whatever and calculates hit/damage in real time."

New cards can thus be easily distributed online, meaning the game's 80 initial abilities may quickly extend past 100. More information on how this will work will be available closer to the game's release this fall.
