Koei has today announced that Samurai Warriors, which is scheduled for release for the PlayStation 2 next week, is also in development for the Xbox. The Xbox version of the game will be identical to the PS2 version in most respects, and it is currently scheduled for release sometime this summer.

Set in 16th-century Japan, Samurai Warriors is a tactical action game in which players assume the role of one of 15 legendary warriors such as Yukimura Sanada, Nobunaga Oda, Kenshin Uesugi, and the ninja Hanzo Hattori. The game boasts more than 90 stages of epic battles for players to fight their way through, and Koei claims that the Xbox version of Samurai Warriors will be able to handle even more characters onscreen simultaneously than the adequately hectic PS2 game.
