Samurai Warriors 5 was revealed during the latest Nintendo Direct livestream. It's the follow-up to the Dynasty Warriors sub-series from developers Koei Tecmo and Omega Force. The game is set to launch for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC sometime this Summer. You can watch the announcement and gameplay reveal in the video below.

This upcoming entry is still set in the Sengoku period, and this time it focuses on familiar characters Nobunaga Oda and Mitsuhide Akechi. The reveal also came with a glimpse of gameplay to showoff how the two characters fight with their different weapons. The series also gets a visual revamp with this latest entry with new character designs and presentation styles.

Samurai Warriors features combat that's a bit different from the mainline Dynasty Warriors series, focusing more on various fighting styles with specific weapons and combos. However, it does have the signature battle format of mowing down large mobs of enemies.

More information on Samurai Warriors 5 will be shared on February 25 through a developer livestream. For more on the latest effort from Koei Tecmo and Omega Force, be sure to check out our Persona 5 Strikers review.
