The retail release slate has suffered for activity throughout the month of July, and the PlayStation Network finds itself in a similar position this week. The PlayStation 3's online store sees the addition of the fourth episode in Telltale's ongoing Sam and Max adventure series, while the PSP picks up a duo of digital releases.

Sam and Max Episode 4: Beyond the Alley of the Doll is the penultimate installment in Telltale's latest season for its crime-fighting pooch and hyperkinetic rabbit thing. Beyond the Alley of the Doll sees the game's heroes fleeing oversized canine clones, which are invading in a fashion not unlike a zombie apocalypse. Episode 4 is included with the Episode Bundle pack, which costs $34.95.

Sam and Max have had to grapple with more than a few oddballs.

On the PSOne Classics channel, gamers can pick up Motor Toon Grand Prix, which received positive review scores upon its debut for Sony's original system in 1996. Unlike other PSOne Classic releases, Motor Toon Grand Prix is only available to PS3 owners. Notably, the game was created by Kazunori Yamauchi, who later formed Gran Turismo studio Polyphony Digital.

The highest profile new release on the PSP store is Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4, which costs $29.99. As its name implies, the humorous take on J.K. Rowling's boy-wizard involves the first four years at Hogwarts, where he experiments with wizardry and witchcraft.

The other new PSP game to arrive on the store this week is Gravity Crash Portable from Just Add Water. The $9.99 title bears early-arcade gameplay and sees gamers blasting their way through space in an interstellar ship. While the arcade-style space shooter is an original intellectual property for the developer, Just Add Water is moving on to better-known fare. Last week, the studio announced that it would be reviving the Oddworld franchise, which has been dormant since 2005.

A full list of the week's deals and new PlayStation Store content, including themes, wallpapers, demos, discounts, and add-on content, is available on the PlayStation Blog.
