Saitek to design Phantom gamepad

Infinium Labs is working with a veteran of the peripheral market to create a new controller for its console.

Infinium Labs has selected Saitek, a longtime manufacturer of gaming peripherals, to design the gamepad for its upcoming PC-based console, the Phantom. Saitek will basically provide the workings of the controller, the internal components, and the buttons, while Infinium is designing the external casing so that it jives with the overall design of the Phantom. The console, which has been shrouded in mystery, controversy, and lawsuits, is built on PC hardware and downloads PC games from an online service. The controller will be different from the one that GameSpot got its mitts on at this year's E3 and will accompany the Phantom's keyboard and mouse setup. The console is expected to launch this November.
