Nevrax, the French development company that runs massively multiplayer online game Ryzom, has released a statement saying that the company will be folding at the end of the year. Nevrax is based in Paris and was founded in 2000, and it launched The Saga of Ryzom in September 2004. The science-fiction MMOG takes place on the planet Atys, and players can choose from one of four races for their playable character. In October it launched an expansion pack for the game, titled Ryzom Ring, which let players create their own content.

The company's latest statement said, "While the game will continue to run and be supported, Nevrax (as a corporate entity) will be going into receivership next month. We emphasize again that the game will continue to run and be supported as this is not the beginning of the end--just the end of the beginning."

Current subscribers will receive one month of free access, and new subscribers will not be able to upgrade their trial accounts for the time being. Nevrax also stated that another company would likely be taking over running the game but would not release details until the deal was finalised.
