Ryan Reynolds Is Reimagining Home Alone As A Stoner Movie
Ryan Reynolds plus Home Alone = Stoned Alone.
If you've ever wondered what a home alone movie would look like if it was geared towards adults, wonder no more. Deadline reports that Ryan Reynolds is making an R-rated version of Home Alone called Stoned Alone with Fox.
Reynolds will be producing the movie, which will reportedly follow a 20-something stoner, who misses a flight to a ski trip, and comes home to light up. After getting sufficiently baked, he gets paranoid and thinks that he hears someone breaking into his house. It turns out, someone is, and the stoner must defend his home from the intruders while high as a kite.
No casting choices have been announced, but we do know that Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider (The Package) wrote the script. Augustine Frizzell, an emerging voice in comedy with a Sundance feature coming out soon, will direct.
The original Home Alone was a smash hit from 1990 that inspired sequels and launched MaCaulay Culkin into stardom. We're hoping that the themes from the original, combined with the comedy skills of Ryan Reynolds and the whole production team will make for a funny new take on the classic franchise.
