Infogrames has announced RollerCoaster Tycoon II, its upcoming theme-park management game sequel. The game is a follow-up to RollerCoaster Tycoon, which was created by Chris Sawyer and has remained among the top 10 best-selling PC games almost continuously since its release in March 1999.

The new game will feature a number of improvements on the original, including more types of roller coasters and rides, a new ride creation system, new shops and stores, new park themes, and a scenario editor.

"RollerCoaster Tycoon has been one of the most popular games to be released in the last three years," said Ann Marie Bland, director of brand marketing at Infogrames' Beverly Studio. "The fans have been shouting for more RollerCoaster Tycoon and we're glad to finally be able to give them what they've been demanding."

RollerCoaster Tycoon II is being designed by Chris Sawyer, the creator of the original game, and it is scheduled for release this fall. We'll post more information about the game as it becomes available.
