Rockstar hiring to bring "latest titles" to PC

Since-removed job posting at Rockstar Leeds suggests company's newest games could come to PC.

Rockstar Leeds recently posted (and has since removed) a job listing for a programmer who would assist in bringing the company's "latest titles" to PC.

No Caption Provided

"Rockstar Leeds are currently looking for a talented graphics programmer to help bring our latest titles to the PC platform," reads a line from the job ad as captured by Rockstar Watch.

"Working together with the other Rockstar studios, you will be responsible for maintaining the studio’s uncompromising quality bar, delivering the highest quality PC experience possible."

The requisition also mentions "working with skilled developers on next generation gamers," suggesting Rockstar will continue to release games on PC in the future.

A Rockstar Games representative was not immediately available to comment.

Some of Rockstar Games' "latest titles" currently unavailable or unannounced for PC include 2010's Red Dead Redemption and this September's Grand Theft Auto V. The company has said a PC version of GTAV is "up for consideration."

Rockstar Games released the first official gameplay trailer for GTAV today. For more, check out GameSpot's editor analysis of the footage.

Actually I am looking forward to GTA5 for PC. RDR is not that good, believe me. Consoles can keep it. Give us GTA5 in PC´s next gen quality, Rockstar ; )

@jhonMalcovich I've played RDR on my 360 before it broke down and I sold all my console games. I'd love to buy it and play it again on PC

@Soundaholic92 Don't you hate the time you have waited for Dark souls or Assassins creed(late release to PC) or RDR.

@jhonMalcovich You can buy 3 or 4 consoles for the price of a PC. If it is a high-end one. Get a console.

@victorcom @jhonMalcovich Console gaming is pretty expensive in my country, 113$ a recent release. Besides why would I want to have 3-4 consoles, those are just plastic boxes. What matters are games. I could never aford having 120 games on console as I can on PC, with Steam and other digital distributors. PC is the most flexible and balanced gaming platform in existence: it has huge legacy library, all main recent releases, its own exclusives , and it often snipes exclusive titles from all three consoles.

I still own a PS3, but only because I have a good income and have some money to burn for my gaming hobby, so I got it as a complement to my PC for a few exclusives it has.

@LordCrash88 I hate the time I have waited for Dark Souls or RDR or AC. I am moving on to consoles. Each time you need to sign a petition to get a good game in PC, that too a crappy port.

@victorcom Lack of personel is the best guess. There could be many reasons why RDR is not ported.

And most of the big games are ported to PC, you don't have a point here. Only games from development studios owned by Sony or MS are usually not ported to PC because their exclusive games are a major selling point for their consoles.....that has nothing to do with potential sales on PC.

Some genres (like beat'n'ups or platformers) are just not that very popular on PC, or for example American sports. But most other genres are quite popular on PC and despite the customer base might be smaller on PC that doesn't mean that games/ports can't be profitable on PC. That's just a prejudice without actual proof. You can't eben attribute non-ported games to weak PC sales numbers without a clear statement of the poeple responsible for the decision in each single situation....

@victorcom @jhonMalcovich If you think the initial price of a PC is too much, then you either need a new job, or you're perhaps too young to enjoy better, more thought-provoking games. The PC has infinitely more exclusives than consoles. Not to mention modding.

@LordCrash88 It seems sales doesn't justify the investment for pc. Seeing how many games are not ported. Wait according to you, why RDR was not ported?

@victorcom @LordCrash88 @jhonMalcovich ....says Bhudda......

And even if: wo what? Only BIG games have the right of existence or what's the point of this statement?

It's like arguing that there should be only one engine variant in each car model because other variants show weaker sales numbers. That doesn't matter. All that matters is the question if the sales justify the investment and the costs.

You just continue to state your vacuous numbers and I'm getting bored to talk with you tbh.......

@LordCrash88 @victorcom if its pays for the port then why developers are not interested in making a pc port? if your assumption is right there every multiplatform should have made it to PC? but no is the answer.

@victorcom @jhonMalcovich blablablablabla......many exclusive games released for PC are not release for any console so what? the initial price of a PC is reasonabe if you know what you're doing........
Used games are the real problem of console gaming as piracy is the problem of PC gaming. But I doubt you'll understand that by stating that used games are good and piracy is bad.....
Oh, and most PC gamers have absolutely no problem with tweaking their games.

@victorcom "by PC game sales" of which game? All games? Are you freaking god or something?
Game publishers spend their money on my gaming habit if they can make a profit with it. It's unimportant how many people buy a PC game compared to the console version when we talk about a multiplatform game. What counts is the question if the sales figures are good enough to pay back the efforts put in the port. The game is made anyways and most money is already put into the basic game. At least that's true for the normal console->port today......

@victorcom @LordCrash88 @jhonMalcovich You haven't even provided a single point. You state that PC games have bad sales and are therefore not worth the effort. That's not even an argument, that's pure ignorance. There are many games on PC and many of them are highly profitable. It's true that many multiplatform games have higher sales figures for consoles but that does not implicate that a PC port of these games in nonsence. You can still make a lot of money with a decent port which convinces people to buy the game....

@victorcom @jhonMalcovich Yes. Ati, Nvidia and Intel´s presence is almost worlwide. So I get fair pricing for PC components, which is relatively equal to official US pricing. There are much more official distributors of PC components than for console gaming. Actually there is no official distribution of consoles. Everything regarding console gaming is bought through small electronic shops that import from US and therefore charge you 50% more.

@LordCrash88 @victorcom @jhonMalcovich Game developers won't spend their money for your gaming habit. May be around 10% people have your habit, going by PC game sales.

@jhonMalcovich And if you don't have a PS3 right now you'll end having a bigger backlog. Thus buying a next gen console won't feel like a total waste.

@victorcom @jhonMalcovich Why not? Are you jealous because other people have the money to build a decent gaming PC? You don't even try to understand other people and their gaming habits, you just want to force your "consoles are better" ideology on others and brand their opinions as fanboyism.....

@victorcom @jhonMalcovich A next gen console being bought day one would cost me much more in my country, as they will be imported. About 600$, for sure. So actually I will be saving money.

And there is no such thing as a PC fanboy. PC is not brand. Besides I have PS3. Probably will get PS4 once it has a good lineup of exclusives.

@victorcom @jhonMalcovich As I already own a gaming PC I won´t be buying a next gen console day one. Most the games I am interested in are multi-plats anyway. So I will probably save those 400$ for a new next gen GPU for my PC. But I will certainly check one of the next gen consoles when they fall in price and hype. Like a year later or so after launch. I have so big backlog to play so I can wait. Besides PC will get awesome exclusives, too, such as Star Citizen, Rome 2 and Project Eternity, genres that are not very popular on consoles.

@jhonMalcovich You can buy Wii U, PS4, Xbox one and Ouya. Many exclusive games released for consoles are not released for PC. PC games are cheap to buy, but the initial price of PC is too much. Also you can buy used games for consoles too. With consoles I can play the game easily. PC needs some tweaking.

@victorcom @jhonMalcovich Um, that's false. Unless you mean older PS3 consoles that go for $200-$300 apiece. I built my PC from scratch and it runs all the newest games at tip-top qualities and it cost me around $700 total. And that's including more RAM and a processor I didn't need, I just wanted more just to have it.

Maybe if you're talking about buying an already put-together PC from a retailer, that might be so; otherwise, your statement is pretty false.

@LordCrash88 @victorcom @Gam3_B0y I think part of it is also because the PC market is much much more plagued by piracy. It's hard to convince publishers to spend money porting their games to PC when so many will play but so few will pay

@victorcom @Gam3_B0y Sure it's big. But the argument is only valid for people who can't afford a good gaming PC. Everyone else has no reason to buy a console. And don't forget that PC has much more exclusives than consoles. Personally, I would always vote for a multiplatform release so that as many people as possible can play a game. It's the fault of the console manufacturers to limit consoles to controllers. This way games like strategy, tactics, adventure, party-based RPGs and stuff are just unplayable on consoles.....
But every game only availabe for consoles and not on PC is a decision against gaming and gamers. It's usually a money-above-everything decision....

@victorcom and why the &*&^ do you need that machine to run games??? LMAO many PC gamers are mixed IT nerds and they can't resist to "more" power

you'll run any games on ultra with mid I5 with 8 GB(even with 4) ram and GTX 760 and it won't cost you 3K it will cost you max 1 k :)

@Conscrumptured @victorcom Go to VGChartz and look for yourself. Compare any game with console sales. I am having a pc too. Each time I need to lower or higher the settings. Nope console is far better because of optimization. Visually PC is better.

@victorcom In the post I replied to, none of that was stated. You don't need the top-of-the-line anything to run the games out today, or will be out for a few years. Nothing wrong with a little smart thrifty shopping when building one's PC.

Also, your contention that PC sales are very poor, um. Many current studies would disagree with you on that. But to each their own.

@Conscrumptured @victorcom @jhonMalcovich I said a combination of GTX 780 and Intel i7-4770k or Intel extreme processors, with asus maximus Extreme motherboard, etc. That's what we called as high end system. That will cost you around 3000$

@Grenadeh @irateninja Haha, that's what I am saying. A lot of PC gamers don't get that sometimes it's nice to just pop in my game and know it's going to work with ZERO issues. I love my PC but I HATE when I buy something and it does not work as advertised because of compatibility or whatever.

Before all of you inept, self absorbed, pretentious PC gamers get your panties in a wad about buying a better rig, I have no issues running Crysis 3, Bioshock: Infinite, Skyrim and many other games. You'll just have to come to terms with the fact that PC's possess the inherent flaw of fragmentation.

I own a 360, PS3, PC, 3DS, Vita and a Wii U - NOT A FANBOY. I appreciate all the different gaming apparatuses for different reasons. The whole fanboy thing is silly, all things have their ros and cons.
