Rocket League's Next DLC Revealed, Here's What It Adds

Get the scoop on the PS4 and PC game's Revenge of the Battle-Cars expansion, which is inspired by its predecessor.

Psyonix has announced the next DLC for its soccer-with-cars game, Rocket League. Revenge of the Battle-Cars is inspired by Psyonix's Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars (try to say that 10 times fast), the predecessor to Rocket League that didn't get as much attention.

Revenge of the Battle-Cars adds new cars, wheels, rocket boosts, toppers, antennas, paint types, and more, all of which take inspiration from SARPBC. Watch a trailer for the DLC below, while a full breakdown of everything included with the DLC is available at the bottom of this post.

Revenge of the Battle-Cars launches sometime in October on PlayStation 4 and PC (a specific release date was not announced), and even if you don't buy it, you'll still get new stuff. Available with the DLC update for free to all players will be two new variations of the game's maps. These include a night version of Urban Station and a dusk edition of Utopia Coliseum.

Psyonix's Jeremy Dunham teased in a PlayStation Blog post that these will be the last of Rocket League's "regulation-style" maps for a long time. Looking ahead, players can expect "more unusual layouts and settings," he said, noting that further details will come later this year.

This follows comments from Psyonix boss Dave Hagewood, who said in August 2015 that Rocket League would add "crazy different maps" in the future.

Also arriving through the DLC update will be other free extras, including more music, community and country flags, as well as the regular optimizations and tweaks.

Rocket League has been one of the biggest hits this summer. As of the end of July, Rocket League passed 5 million downloads across PC and PS4. The game has sold more than 1 million copies on Steam alone. It's is set to grow further still with more DLC and a release for additional systems.

In other recent Rocket League news, a movie, TV show, and toy line based on the series are all being considered. You can also watch this funny video in which real-world soccer commentators go bananas for Rocket League goals.

Revenge of the Battle-Cars Includes:

  • 2 Classic SARPBC Battle-Cars: Scarab and Zippy
  • 12 New Decals (six for each new car)
  • 3 New Paint Types (Toon Glossy, Toon Matte, Toon Wood)
  • 2 New Wheels (Scarab and Zippy)
  • 2 New Rocket Boosts (Accelerato and Battle-Stars)
  • 4 New Toppers (Cavalier, Locomotive, Pixelated Shades, Shark Fin)
  • 2 New Antennas (Retro Balls from SARPBC)
  • 5 New Trophies

@mjc0961: Don't even try it. Game is good, their DLC content is pathetic.

@Ripper_TV: It's a good thing it's entirely cosmetic and optional then.

I'm still laughing about the guy here in the comments about 2 months ago who said Rocket League was a dumb fading fad. This game is still fantastic and so was the original!

@Ripper_TV: Every game is a fad when it first comes out. But by the time it dies down it already has its fan base with a dedicated player count.
