Rocket League On Nintendo Switch: Psyonix Says It's Considering The Idea
Studio "evaluating" community demand.
"Just like all the other platforms, we are evaluating it. We’re looking to see what the technical requirements are," Jeremy Dunham, vice president of Psyonix, told IGN.
"We’re looking to see what kind of true community demand there is. We're looking to see how it would benefit the community as a whole. So we're still in that evaluation phase. It's definitely too early to say that it wouldn't happen, but it's also definitely too early to say that it would," he said.
Rocket League has reached 29 million registered players and sold 10.5 million copies worldwide on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, according to the company's latest data. Dunham told IGN that Psyonix is a "community-based company" and wants to see "who needs it and who wants the game" before expanding further.
"Luckily the platform's only been out for a month, so we have plenty of time to look to see how it's doing and what our audience wants," he said.
While it's become wildly popular, Rocket League has faced server issues that have kept players waiting to join multiplayer games. Just yesterday, Psyonix's CEO said changes were coming to fix the "unacceptable" outages and matchmaking times.
The company has also said there's no sequel to the game on the horizon, and instead Psyonix will be focusing on improving and expanding Rocket League in the near future. Just last week, the game added a wild new mode called Dropshot, where players must break through the floor on their opponents' half of the field by knocking the ball downward instead of into a goal.
