Rock Band 2 hits UK PS3s in March; Wii in April

EA announces that Rock Band 2 will finally reach UK PS3s and PS2s on March 27, Wii on April 24, with instrument pack costing £89.99.

The crazy, confusing world of UK Rock Band 2 release dates just got a little less crazy and confusing. EA, the game's distributor, has confirmed that the game will finally reach UK PlayStation and Wii consoles, long after the Xbox 360 version launched in November last year. The software will retail for around £49.99 on the PS3, £39.99 on the Wii, and £29.99 on the PS2. There will also be an instrument bundle available, which includes a copy of the game for £119 on PS3 and £109 for the PS2 and Wii version.

The franchise has been a big commercial and critical success for EA, with sales of 10 million units in 2008, 2 million of which were for Rock Band 2. This still lags behind rock rivals RedOctane, whose Guitar Hero World Tour sold 3.4 million copies in 2008.

@ roflmuffins8 : Agree with what you said, may be it has to do with EA's policy, might be there are some agreements between the 2 companies that we are not aware of...

This makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever...people speak English in the UK and it got released in the US around Christmas, and Harmonix delayed it in the UK even though they didn't make any changes to the game at all. What's the point of doing that if you can release it in both countries at the same time and make more profit off it?

Thanks guys for the info provided, really appreciate it :) Awaiting for March 27 :) I've heard so many times (mainly from US users) that RB series is better than the GH ones, and I really wanna have a very close look at it. Has anyone noticed that GH:Metallica is on sale on U.S. around that date (29th March) but gets a significant delay (May 5th) for Europe ?

@kyuss015 Well, you are right about the first three songs on the Rock Band Exportation there except Monsoon, It counts itself as a download over here so that basicly means it will transfer to RB2 It's not bad for Export either, £2.50 for the key, a reasonable offer

I'd care, if it was an announcement for Australia. We still don't have any version of the game.

@ illiaste You can use the GH world tour controller. You can transfer rock band 1 songs into rock band 2 at a cost of 5 US Dollars. I don't what that would cost for you guys. Keep in mind that a few songs do not transfer: Paranoid, Run to the Hills, Enter Sandman and for you British players, Monsoon.

I don;t have the GH guitar myself, but I had a friend who I could have sworn said that's what he using. For the transfer you pay 5 dollars (In MS points) and it effectively "downloads" the RB1 tracks into your RB2. and yes all DLC works in RB2

At last :) :) :) I've really waiting for this game. A couple of quick questions, if any fellow gamer knows the answer : a) Does the guitar for GH World Tour works for RB2 ? b) I heard that if you get Rock Band 1, you can "transfer" the songs to Rock Band 2. How is that possible and does this goes for the DLC too ? Thanks in advance :)

I find it stupid that harmonix releases different versions on different dates. Activision doesn't do that with GH, and they're pretty much the same game.

I will always boycott Rock Band for their delays to the UK market place. Plus their Xbox360 favouritism/pay off by delaying the UK PS3 version of RB1 for a further 3 months. Guitar Hero all the way for me!
