Ricky Gervais' Netflix Show After Life Season 3 Wraps Up Filming

After Life is the first show created by Gervais to run for more than two seasons.

After 35 days of shooting, the Ricky Gervais Netflix show After Life has wrapped up its third season, and that's a big deal for the British comedian and actor.

No show that Gervais has created has ever gone beyond a second season, so he is stepping into a new chapter in his career with After Life season three. Some of this other popular shows, including The Office and Extras, ran for two seasons and then called it quits.

Gervais made the announcement about season 3 in a social media post showing his character, Tony, walking through the woods with his constant companion, Brandy the dog.

In 2020, Gervais said he had ideas for Season 3 but wasn't sure if he would make it. He explained at the time that he wanted to make After Life season 3 because the characters he created are very interesting and worth exploring in greater depth. The setting, a small town in the UK, is also compelling enough to examine more, he said.

Season 2 ended in dramatic fashion, so fans are likely eager to find out when season 3 will premiere, but no release date has been announced yet. We also don't know where Tony may be headed next as he grapples with what happened in season 2. The show bounces between silly comedy and incredibly heavy, heartfelt material.
