It doesn't take much for most retail stores to hold a special offer or sale, and Father's Day is no exception. With the honorific holiday coming up this weekend, Wal-Mart has advertised through its weekly promotional flyer that all Blu-ray players purchased in-store or online are eligible for a $100 Wal-Mart gift card, while supplies last. All PlayStation 3s, which come equipped with Sony's high-definition video playback device, purchased at Wal-Mart during the promotional period are eligible for the deal.

Metal Gear Solid 4 gamers may be particularly interested in this offer, considering that the game hits retail shelves on June 12. GameSpot has confirmed with Wal-Mart that the Metal Gear Solid 4 + PlayStation 3 bundle announced in February is applicable for this promotion. Already a deal in and of itself, the MGS4 PS3 bundle packs an 80GB console, a copy of Kojima Productions' latest game, and a DualShock 3 controller, and bears a suggested retail price of $499.99--or $399.99, if one subtracts the value of the gift card.
