Resident Evil Village Spoilers Are Reportedly Floating Around Online

Key story beats, including threads for returning Resident Evil characters, are apparently all over the internet.

Following a company hack in November, it seems Capcom has been compromised once again, this time with spoiler information about the upcoming survival horror title Resident Evil Village.

Major details about Village--including the game's ending, narrative threads for returning characters, and other story details--have reportedly leaked online to message boards and social platforms. None of these are included below, but there appear to be screenshots floating around online, so be wary when searching the game and its communities.

It's unclear if this breach is related to the hack Capcom suffered in November, in which a hacker group called Ragnar Locker accessed 350,000 pieces of confidential information about the company, its employees, and customers. At the same time as the hack, information about Village was also allegedly uncovered. This includes an unconfirmed April 2021 release window, as well as a supposed September 2021 launch for a Resident Evil battle royale game.

In other Resident Evil news, the PlayStation Store seemingly revealed that Village will support some of PlayStation 5's features, including taking advantage of the SSD for faster load times.

Resident Evil Village drops in 2021. Though an exact release date has not been announced, Capcom confirmed the game will make its way to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

You play Ethan, true, but it's actually a Chris campaign for the majority of the game.

Chris wakes up in Alpha team's chopper on the way to the Arklay Mountains. The whole series was just a dream.

@thochaos: And then it turns out they're flying him to his surprise birthday party at this cool old mansion STARS rented out in the woods. They play laser tag and watch scary movies with the lights off.

@thochaos: I knew there was a reason they used Patrick Duffy as the character model for Chris!

Meh, not gonna worry about Resident Evil 8: Village spoilers but the fact this game doesn't release next year I'll probably forget about the leaks if I run into them. Resident Evil 4 Remake is the one I'm worry about if it gets leak that is.

Not that I wont mod posts with spoilers, but Resident Evil is one of the last stories I would care about being spoiled.

@mogan: based on spoilers i can kinda start guess how the environments play out and what kind of monsters there could be. that certainly affects the experience ill get, if i remember anything by when the game releases.

but in a way its the extreme way of subverting expectations since there will for sure be something i expect to happen certain way but it wont.

its unfortunate leak but again re is the only series that is still fully on my radar and nothing of this leak makes me dissappinted or fear that capcom is losing it. stark comparison to something like mass effect that made me sigh

yes i liked even re6, survivor and raccoon city

@mogan: Seriously. I had no trouble looking at the spoilers. The story is deliberately designed to be campy and I've never cared one iota about it, but RE fanboys are exceptionally protective of their "story" (I mean, all fanboys are, but these are the only ones I've encountered). Where RE stands out is in gameplay, specifically with the new school controls, shock cares, and awesome monster design.
