Sony has released a new trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil CG movie, Resident Evil Vendetta. This newest trailer shows off some familiar characters, including Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy, as well as Rebecca Chambers from Resident Evil 0. It also teases out the story, which focuses on efforts to stop a bad guy from releasing a deadly virus on New York. You know, Resident Evil stuff.

Vendetta was first announced in 2015 and is set for a Japanese release on May 27, 2017. This newest trailer confirms that the US release date is sometime this summer. GameRant reports that Vendetta will be in theaters for a limited run before coming to home video.

The movie was written by Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass) and produced by Takashi Shimizu, who created the horror series The Grudge. The movie was made by Marza Animation Planet, which is owned by Sega.

As for the live-action Resident Evil film series, the newest entry, The Final Chapter, came out last month. It helped push the entire series past $1 billion at the global box office.

Resident Evil 7 is the newest installment in the video game series. It launched just ahead of The Final Chapter on January 24 and has shipped 3 million copies so far.
