Resident Evil 7 Supports Xbox One to PC Cross-Saves

Resident Evil 7 allows you to start on Xbox One, finish on PC.

Resident Evil 7: biohazard will support cross-saves between its Xbox One and PC versions. That means you can start playing on your Xbox One, then pick up where you left off on your PC.

Japanese site Dengeki first reported the feature, stating, "the Windows Store version can share play data with the Xbox One version." IGN says the game's publisher, Capcom, confirmed the cross-save feature in a statement.

Cross-save functionality is traditionally reserved for titles in Xbox One's 'Play Anywhere' program--the Microsoft-led scheme where buying an Xbox One version of a game also bags you a PC copy. Neither Capcom nor Microsoft has yet confirmed Resident 7 as a Play Anywhere title. Play Anywhere has so far been limited to Xbox exclusive games.

Resident Evil 7 is also releasing on PS4, with both the Kitchen VR demo and the full game's VR mode exclusive to PlayStation--for the first year, at least.

Capcom said in its latest earnings call that it expects Resident 7 to sell 4 million copies before April 2017, with a long tail anticipated beyond that.

The horror title recently had a $180 collector's edition revealed, complete with an interactive Mansion Music Box model and severed finger USB stick. You can grab it when Resident Evil 7 launches, on January 24 2017.

@suprsolider: only about 700 million people play games on PC and laptops and tablets (not all AAA games)...so i guess not. 28% of those gamers bought actual GPUS to play games. So around 150-200 million. Thats just desktop graphics cards, not including the bizillions of laptop compatible gaming ready machines. The real situation is. Not ALL PC gamers are AAA gamers. Pc gaming is so competitive. You have Counter Strike with 500'000 odd players playing every single day, Battlefield. Its a highly competitive space to be involved in. Theres even games from 15 years ago being played still online. Liek Age Of empires 2 and even HEROES of might and magic 3 from teh early 90's still gets played online. So the space is extremely competitive. Not everyone on PC goes out and buys a Call Of Duty. Not to mention the millions of league of legends players and starcraft players. Its ridiculous really. Th ereason why theres such a massive playerbase for games like COD and HALO and Battlefield and FIFA , NBA etc, Titanfall, they get ALL the multiplayer traffic. Theres not as much competition. On PC new release games are competing with massive amounts of games. I havent even mentioned MMORPG's and the multyplayer playerbase that takes on PC lol.

I guess these writers don't even bother reading the comments to their own articles, even when there's not that many.

Because a responsible writer would get this article's headline amended to read "Windows Store version", and the sub-headline would read "allows you to start on Xbox One, finish on Windows 10".

Absolutely garbage non-specific/unhelpful headline that will give hundreds of people an inaccurate first glance.

@runstalker: While your right that it would be more accurate to make those changes, what you ignore is the fact that Xbox cross play with Windows Store is a feature unique to Xbox at the moment. So making it that specific is unnecessary. I, and I'm sure many others, knew exactly what they meant. Perhaps you did not, but from reading the article, I'm guess you would have learned the details. And the body of an article is always where you find the details. So if the headline interested you, you should always read the details to find out what exactly is being wrote about. Basing decisions on headlines is foolish.

@learnedhandgun: Of course I knew what it meant, hence the complaint re: why it should be made clearer - for those who do not know. The article should also specify Windows 10, again for players who do not know the drill with UWP/Windows Store and associated cross-saving.

@runstalker: I wasn't being sarcastic when I said "perhaps you did not". I honestly did not know what you knew before reading the article. And the rest of my comment addresses your complaint.

I am not against your suggestion, though. I just don't think it was such a grave mistake of the authors to warrant such harsh criticism from you.

This cross-save feature could be implemented on every hardware. That would solve problems when somebody want to watch TV and another want to play. With that this should be not a big deal. But from a other hand i didnt buy one game to two platforms. Evry platform has different games so this cross-save function is just another trick to make more games in Windows Store.

@RyanBurnsRed: You're right. It is a comment section, and people should post their views and opinions on the topic. Telling people where you are going to buy a game is neither a view nor an opinion. At most, it is a fact of little to no relevance to anyone but the poster. Moreover, the purpose of posting views and opinions in a comment section is to discuss the topic with other people. Was this breakdown of simple concepts really necessary for you or were you just pulling my leg?

@learnedhandgun: Ok. So instead of ignoring and scrolling past the comment, you chose to take the time to write a sarcastic snobby reply that was even more off topic to what the OP said in regards to the article. Good job. You're saving the Gamespot comment section with each passing sarcastic off-topic reply. So to answer your question: Yes that breakdown of simple concepts was really necessary, not for me, but clearly for you seeing as DaVillain's comment is more on-topic than you were in reply to him. Have a good day.

Well this should be a no brainer seeing as they both use the same service. They Join the likes of Forza Horizon 3, Killer Instinct, Quantum Break and many others. It's nice start a game at home and take them on the go with a nice laptop.

Its a cool but useless features for pc users. I doubt any sane pc user want to game on xbox one when they already have better version on pc but xbox users transitioning to pc might find this feature pleasing.

@girlusocrazy: actually the nvidia 10series card is able to output HDR. Well continue to live under that rock.

Oh yeah the 1060 is 250-300 now. Pretty cheap for a gpu near twice ps4pro power, get it now and be shown the light.

@sakaixx: Actually the Nvidia 9xx series is able to output HDR10 as well but it's not the hardware that is the issue, it's DirectX, Windows, and games that all have yet to actually implement HDR output. HDR could have been done on PC since 2014 but it wasn't. I guess PC devs aren't interested in pushing the latest bells and whistles until console does it. Maybe PC gamers have no idea what tech actually does and just want to see the bullet point on features lists

@sakaixx: So did Battlefield 1 and so far nada :)

I've no doubt PC will get it eventually, as the PC Gamer article suggests, but let's not get away from the original point that it's not here now, it is missing, thanks to Windows and DirectX not being on the cutting edge, or simply due to the fragmentation of the Windows OS/APIs across various devices (console/phone/desktop).

The hardware even supports it, but even on games that support it, the UWP Forza 3 and GoW4, Battlefield 1, still don't show it on PC because for some reason MS is taking their sweet time.

Anyhow right now dev said hdr is available for pc so until proven otherwise its still fact. So back to my original comment, no reason for pc people to play on xbox one.

@sakaixx: Uh show me that it's available, RE7 is not out, GoW4 and Forza Horizon 3 on a PC hooked up to an HDR TV don't display in HDR, Battlefield 1 still doesn't have HDR support. When support isn't even in for the PC version of DirectX and Windows, and no software patches yet for PC games...

Until all of this actually shows up (as well as monitors that support HDR and not just TVs to make this realistic on the desktop, as well as laptops), you can't get it on PC.

No way in hell MS delayed HDR so a few Xbox owners could get it vs the tons of 9xx and 10xx GPUs out there, as well as the need for use in professional graphics apps on PC. No way they kept it out of Windows since 2014 when HDR capable GPUs were out just for Xbox One S in 2016.

@sakaixx: It's coming fairly quickly and no hint of any updates from MS,I bet like all the other HDR games so far that were supposed to have support it won't be in there for a while.

Where exactly does the dev say it will be there day 1?

@RyanBurnsRed: That says 10-bit HDR support is coming, not that it's here. Which proves my point cuz bro said "hdr and 4k support on pc. Not missing anything from xbox one."

Your article sez: "The real problem facing PC gamers interested in HDR today is that is [sic] hasn’t arrived on the platform yet. [...]

Until HDR patches and games start arriving, it’s going to be Blu-ray and streaming content, along with the indignity of seeing consoles get access to enhanced HDR visuals first. So kick up your heels and relax. It’ll be a while before HDR arrives on the PC, so for now just catch up on your Steam back catalog and wait for HDR to come to you."

Kthxbye

P.S. If I misunderstand, and you are not arguing with me but you were trying to post a better article to prove my original point I thank you, and admit/acknowledge my citation was lame and was too lazy to find a good one, but it still showed what I was talking about

P.P.S. Is your username accurate? If you burn is it red or something? Or you like burning red stuff? (Personally I just chose the lamest sounding username I could think of in the 3 minutes I bothered to think about it)
