Resident Evil 3 Remake Mod Replaces The Undead With Dinosaurs

There's a dino crisis in Racoon City as a new mod swaps out the zombies for a T-Rex.

The Resident Evil 3 Remake surpassed an impressive sales milestone after only five days on sale, and there are potentially more Resident Evil remakes on the way. For all of the franchise's success, however, there's another survival horror series that Capcom continues to leave in the dark. Dino Crisis hasn't been heard from since 2003 when Dino Crisis 3 was released, and fans are clearly itching for some more dino-related horror.

The Dino Evil 3 mod turns Resident Evil 3's shuffling zombies into roaming dinosaurs. There's only one type of dino so far, which looks like a miniature Tyrannosaurus Rex with an oversized head, but it's not bad for version 0.1. A similar mod was created for the Resident Evil 2 Remake that added costumes and skins related to the series, including red-headed protagonist Regina. There were no dinosaurs, though, so this Resident Evil 3 mod bridges that gap.

Changing the zombie's animations to fit their new Jurassic form does come with an unintended side effect whereby the T-Rex will occasionally get stuck in rooms. Nemesis is also absent when using this mod, so it's not yet ideal in this early state. If only Capcom would return to the series itself. Who doesn't want a Dino Crisis remake?

"As a remake, Resident Evil 3 not only falls short of honoring its source, but it also doesn't quite stick the landing as a standalone horror experience," Alessandro Fillari said in GameSpot's Resident Evil 3 Remake review. "Even without taking into account the original game, or its predecessor, RE3 struggles to keep up with its pace amid a clashing of elements from survival horror and standard action. While it has a strong start and gives its principal villain some great moments, this truncated retelling of the concluding game from the original Resident Evil trilogy doesn't do it proper justice."
