Hollywood has dug its hand into the box of '90s B-list horror movies looking for a new reboot, and it has pulled out Anaconda. That's right, the classic 1997 creature feature Anaconda, which starred Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Jon Voight, is getting a new movie.

Columbia Pictures is working on the new film and has hired Tomb Raider's Evan Daugherty to write the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be getting a modern take to the story, which was originally about a documentary crew in the Amazon teaming with a hunter to search for a giant snake.

THR's sources reported that the movie is a re-imagining, but details about the film are being kept under lock and key. The studio is looking to reboot Anaconda into something comparable to 2018's The Meg--a movie about a giant shark eating everyone but Jason Statham.

The original movie made $136 million worldwide, and it spawned numerous sequels: Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004), and the TV movies Anaconda 3: Offspring (2008) and Anacondas: Trail of Blood (2009). All of the films were panned by critics, but the original film became a cult classic with horror fans.
