Release date set for The Legend of Zelda

Nintendo of Japan has updated its official site with a release date for the Japanese version of The Legend of Zelda, which is currently scheduled for December 13. The Legend of Zelda once again puts players in the role of Link, who's on a quest to rescue his kidnapped sister from the clutches of a giant bird. The game features a distinct cel-shaded look but retains most of the gameplay mechanics featured in the Nintendo 64 Zelda games.

The North American version of The Legend of Zelda is scheduled for release sometime in early 2003.
