Rednecks on the Rampage

Interplay and Columbia Pictures have teamed up to bring two of the PC's reddest necks to the silver screen.

This morning, Interplay announced that Columbia Pictures has optioned the motion-picture rights of Xatrix's Redneck Rampage for Tall Trees, a production house headed up by movie director Betty Thomas, whose previous directorial work includes "The Brady Bunch Movie" and "Private Parts."

"Redneck Rampage has a wonderfully absurd twist on the alien abduction premise,'' said Interplay Films president Tom Reed. "We're ecstatic to be in business with Betty. In her hands the movie is sure to be as cool, irreverent, and hilarious as the game. And what better studio to be at than the one who brought us Men in Black?''

The movie will follow the game's original storyline, and it will chronicle the adventure of farmers Leonard and Bubba as they hunt down their pig's alien abductors. Interplay's Brian Fargo and Tom Reed will act as executive producers. No word on possible prospective actors or a release date has been given yet.
