Redbox Instant coming to PS3 today

Movie streaming service Redbox Instant will be available on PlayStation 3 later today, the company announced today on the PlayStation Blog.

Users will be able to stream thousands of movies and find and reserve new releases for DVD and Blu-ray through the free application.

A Redbox Instant subscription is $8/month and includes access to streaming movies and four rental credits per month.

A free month promotion is available at the Redbox website.

The Redbox Instant app has been available on Xbox Live for months, but the PS3 version will feature an exclusive "Playlist" option. Users can scan through movie selections compiled by various themes, including "Stuff Blowing Up," "Movies With Balls," and "Beards on Film."

Redbox Instant will be available in the "What's New," "My Channels," and "TV/Video Services" sections of the PS3 XMB today, as well as in the Apps section of the PlayStation Store.
