THQ has today announced that the Xbox, GameCube, and PC versions of Red Faction II have shipped to stores across North America. All three versions of the game boast a number of improvements on the PS2 version that was released in October last year, particularly the Xbox and PC versions, which feature improved visuals and new multiplayer maps and character models.

"We are very pleased to be bringing our original, internally developed Red Faction II to the GameCube, Xbox, and PC," said Alison Locke, executive vice president, North American publishing, THQ. "In addition to groundbreaking Geo-Mod technology, Red Faction II offers gamers a complete entertainment experience with new enhancements and improvements that take advantage of each system's respective hardware."

Red Faction II is a futuristic first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a demolitions expert named Alias who, along with the help of five elite squad members, is on a mission to defend his country by overthrowing the government.
