It really is an awesome game:) One of the most engrossing I've played (whatever the format). Just a really immersive experience, you really feel like you're there. I like the fame and honour rating system especially, and the way people start to react differently to you depending on your deeds. They are not wrong when they say it's sandbox gaming's new frontier - this is similar, but so much better than GTA4. Some may find it not as shoot-em-up as GTA4 though, as it's not all about gunfights and taking down bad guys. But in the end the overall open world gaming experience is so much more rewarding than GTA4 was. Outstanding job Rockstar.

Shame about Modnation. I have it and love it, although it does have some issues. RDR looks awesome and I must get it soon. :)

@angeck. You raise a good point, but as you say, it can be avoided. Philthy101 should have made it more obvious that the comment was directed towards people cheating (as that's what modding multyplayer in such a way amounts to) in online games, rather than mods for singleplayer.

@killing_spree20 about the mods thing i think he meant to say that in multiplayer people use mods that ruin the game for you. but this can all be avoided if the game developer makes some anti mods in multiplayer protection.

i didn't play this game since i don't own a console(which suck)but it looks really good,i didn't see anyone saying anything bad about it.and is probably the first game ever to not get bad criticism.it looks like a big technical achievement for consoles.

On another note. Why are people thumbing down requests for it to be released on the PC. Are you really that small and petty minded that you think games should be soley released for whatever box of plastic you use for gaming? Anyone with more than 2 brain cells should be able to realise that if games stop being exclusive to any one or two platforms the prices of consoles themselves will drop. Sony and Microsoft will aslo have to step their game up as they can't rely on exclusive titles to draw people to their hardware. As gamers, you're kicking yourselves in the nuts when you support exclusives. Ace job.

@Philthy101. You don't to download mods. What have you got against people modding games for their entertainment? Those people 'wrecking' games, as you put it, have brought out mods that have seen just as much popularity as the games themselves. Just look at Counter Strike. I really can't see where you are coming from, the mods for San Andreas (as it's a game you mentioned) made the game far better than the console original. Higher poly gun models, Hi-Res textures, better car models, real cars being imported. Different character textures, different clothes, it was just so much superior. In fact, your comment would lead me to believe that you actually hate having choices given to you. You are content just to do everything the same as everyone else, have no creativity of your own, no imagination. I don't want to imagine what the world would be like if everyone had the same mindset as you. We'd probably still be living in caves, beacuse...that'll do right? No point trying to improve or change things. Sad.

RDR on PC would just end up getting modded just like san andreas and every other game does.. then there will be people driving ferraris around with rocket launcher's etc.. they always wreck the games

I feel sorry for alan wake and lost plant2, 2 great great great games released on the same date as RDR. but glad to see they are doing well too.

Totally deserved. The game is awesome. As others have said, it's weird as an American so see others be so interested in Cowboys and the Wild West. It's so ingrained in our culture that I forget that it was a pretty novel experience in history (yes I know other countries like Argentina had cowboys...). Makes me remember how amazing the environment in the West specifically and the U.S. is in general. I want to go to Yellowstone nooooowwwww.

Just Dance amd Wii Fit shouldn't really be on that list. The list should be exclusive to games bought by gamers. You know you're all thinking the same thing.

100 million to make this game damn TakeTwo. My expectations for the GOTY Mafia 2 have just went up. I was just about to complain that RDR seemed to PC for 1911 but if you are spending that type of money I see why you did it. So I just like to say that this game needed a turn on or off tity's option.

Repetitive?? I would say, aside from open world RPGs, this game is the most immersive, enthralling and LEAST repetitive open world game I've ever played.

I wonder if they'll release some native american DLC. Where you can scalp people and generally harass the settlers with flaming arrows and the like. Gun tried a little bit of that, but failed miserably, owing to Neversoft making it for all the last-gen consoles as well as the 360.

red dead is a good game but it's getting abit repetitive, i'm a few mission after crossing the border and there is not that much diversity. but the mini games on the other hand are quite diverse

Red Dead Redemption is amazing. It thoroughly deserves all the sales it gets.

I LOVE redemption. and I've only owned it since Friday, like the rest of us here in the UK, what is a pity however, is the occasional one or two unprovoked hater-types that Rockstar's superb online platforms and press usually draws out. Anyone else ever notice that?

It certainly deserves that #1.
