Reacher's Alan Ritchson Would Still Very Much Like To Be Batman

The former Aquaman and Hunger Games star wants a shot at the cape and cowl of Batman.

With James Gunn and Peter Safran ushering in an entirely new DC cinematic universe that was announced back in January, they're starting to put the pieces of their pantheon together with Superman, Lois Lane, Guy Gardner, Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl, and even Lex Luthor. Part of the DC movie relaunch was the inclusion of a new Batman movie, Batman: The Brave and The Bold--which will be set outside of Matt Reeves' Batman universe, which was dubbed an Elseworld project.

So with Robert Pattinson and Ben Affleck out of the running for this Batman movie, fans have been throwing in their ideas for those to hit the casting couch. One of the names at the top of the list is Reacher's Alan Ritchson, who is all-in for nabbing the role.

"With all the rumors flying that I’m supposed to be playing Batman, how can I knock Batman," he told Fortress of Solitude. "I would love to play Batman."

He went on to talk about Kevin Smith's comparison between Batman and Reacher, saying his character is "Batman without the cape", something the star agreed with to a degree.

"You know, that is a great analogy, actually,” Ritchson continued. "But I mean, Batman has got like a cave, and Reacher doesn't even have a house. He's got a toothbrush. So, I think Batman has got cool stuff. Dude is loaded and has caves, penthouses, and spotlights that call him. Batman's cooler."

In the past, Ritchson played Arthur Curry/Aquaman in the Smallville universe but would be replaced by Justin Hartley for the spin-off pilot Mercy Reef. Hartley would later play Oliver Queen for several seasons of the show.
