[UPDATE] The show has now ended, but you can watch a replay below.

Disney confirmed that new toys and in-game content from its biggest franchises are coming this year. The company said it will continue to support Disney Infinity 3.0, suggesting a 4.0 version is not coming in 2016.

  • Disney -- Judy and Nick from Zootopia; Baloo from The Jungle Book; coming spring 2016.
  • Marvel -- Marvel Battlegrounds playset; new characters include Black Panther, Ant-Man, and a new Captain America based on Civil War. Coming spring 2016. There will be four-player, Diablo-style combat on eight maps. Even more Marvel characters will come later this year.
  • Star Wars -- TBA
  • Pixar -- TBA

"You've asked for a wider variety of content, across a wide variety of brands with each Play Set, and that's what we're committed to delivering," Disney's John Blackburn said. "So, in 2016, we are focusing our development efforts on adding more Play Sets and characters--based on the biggest events coming from Disney this year--to the 3.0 Edition. In other words, if it's happening at The Walt Disney Company, it's happening inside Disney Infinity."

Blackburn's full blog post offers many more details and can be seen here.

GameSpot will have all the news for you as it's divulged.

The Disney Infinity franchise looks like it could use a shot in the arm. For Disney's latest quarter, the series posted lower results than the year before, and whatever is announced today could help turn things around.

I'd like it if they included characters from their old TV cartoons. Aladdin, Jasmine, and Baloo are a start, but Baloo should include his pilot outfit from Talespin. I'd also like to see Mirage from Aladdin and Rebecca, Don Karnage, and Molly from Talespin as playable characters. Another feature I'd suggest adding is having some kind of posing studio like Miku Miku Dance for the sake of being able to take pictures. If the game is supposed to be based around toys, allowing players to pose characters and their face and limbs like they were upgraded dolls and action figures would be another way to go further with this game.
