Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart Announced For PS5--Check Out The First Trailer

Sony gave us our first look at a number of upcoming PS5 games in today's PlayStation 5 reveal stream, and one of them is a brand-new installment in the Ratchet & Clank series. Called Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, the title is a new adventure "built from the ground up" for PS5.

Developed by Insomniac Games, Rift Apart sees the titular duo on the run from a robotic army. Rifts could be seen throughout the environments in the reveal trailer; at one point, Ratchet and Clank enter one from a jungle area and emerge in a futuristic, cyberpunk city, before another rift drops them on top of a flying dinosaur in a prehistoric canyon.

Insomniac creative director Marcus Smith called Rift Apart a "full-length interdimensional adventure." "We're doing things we've never been able to be do before, like use dimensional rifts to be able to leap from planet to planet nearly instantly or put ray trace reflections on Clank," he said. Smith also said that PS5's DualSense controller's enhanced feedback makes Ratchet's new arsenal "more exciting than ever."

That certainly wasn't the only new game we saw during Sony's PS5 game reveal event. We also got our first look at a new Spider-Man game, as well as the PS5-exclusive Project Athia from Square Enix.
