Microsoft showed off a ton of Xbox Series X games during today's Xbox Showcase event. The company dedicated a portion of the stream to spotlighting Everwild, the next project from esteemed British developer Rare, sharing a new trailer that sets the tone for the magic-filled adventure.

In Everwild, players take on the role of an Eternal, a magic-attuned being who is able to sense and feel how magic flows through nature. This connection will play an important role in the game; Rare says you'll "build bonds with the world around you" as you explore. You can watch the new trailer below.

This marks the first time we've seen Everwild since the game was revealed back in November 2019. Like Sea of Thieves, Everwild is an entirely new IP for Rare, featuring a lush visual style and the studio's trademark sense of whimsy. Rare's Louise O'Connor is serving as the game's executive producer and spoke a little about the project during the stream.

"Everwild will give to you a magical and untamed natural world for you to explore and to just truly lose yourself in," O'Connor said. "The team here at Rare are so excited to be working on something like Everwild, and I hope you're excited too."

Everwild isn't the only title Rare is working on; the studio also continues to roll out regular updates for Sea of Thieves, and it's also assisting DLaLa Studios on the new Battletoads game. You can catch up on other news and reveals from today's broadcast in our Xbox Showcase recap.
