Ubisoft has confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege will make its way to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / Series X as a free next-gen upgrade on December 1 with a few enhancements.

Along with cross-generation multiplayer and progression, Rainbow Six Siege on next-gen hardware will see improved graphics and performance. The game will be playable in two modes: Performance and Resolution. Check below for a detailed breakdown of the two modes:

PlayStation 5

  • Performance Mode: Target 120 fps with 4K Dynamic Resolution Scaling.
  • Resolution Mode: Target 60 fps with 4K Resolution.

Xbox Series S

  1. Performance Mode: Target 120 fps at 1080p.
  2. Resolution Mode: Target 60 fps at 1728p.

Xbox Series X

  • Performance Mode: Target 120 fps with 4K Dynamic Resolution Scaling.
  • Resolution Mode: Target 60 fps with 4K Resolution.

Other PlayStation 5-specific enhancements include "deeper immersion" thanks to the DualSense's adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, and Activities support for Event, Newcomer, Ranked, Unranked, and Quick Match game modes. Rainbow Six Siege on Xbox Series S / Series X, meanwhile, will support Microsoft's convenient Quick Resume feature.

Ubisoft shared a brief next-gen reveal trailer showing off Rainbow Six Siege's various enhancements on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / Series X. Check out the video above.

Cross-play will also be available between the same console family. This means cross-console play between PlayStation and Xbox is not a supported feature for the game. The same restriction applies to cross-progression; it must be done in the same console family.

Though cross-progression and cross-play (between PC and consoles or between different console families) aren't available at present, Ubisoft said the features could appear in the future.

"We want to make sure we are taking all necessary elements into consideration to ensure we continue providing all of you with the best technical and well-rounded experience," Ubisoft said. "This type of implementation needs to be thoroughly thought-through, and this is where we stand right now. We will be sure to update you in the future when we have more news to share."

The studio said that other enhancements, including improved accessibility features like better readability and text-to-speech options, are coming to all platforms on December 1 as well.
