Ubi Soft Entertainment has announced Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, its upcoming tactical action game. Although its existence was revealed last week, little information about the game was available at that time.

According to the publisher, Raven Shield will use the next-generation Unreal engine, and it will include 15 new missions. Mission objectives will range from uncovering a cache of biological weapons to stopping an armed gang from terrorizing a London bank.

"Fans have been pleading with us for a long time to come out with another chapter in this blockbuster series of games, and Rainbow Six: Raven Shield will be worth the wait," said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubi Soft Entertainment. "The secrecy behind this project has been crucial to the evolution of the game. We'll be ready to unveil all the action at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles this May."

We've posted one of the first screenshots from the game in the gallery above. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Raven Shield is in development at Ubi Soft's Montreal studio, and it is scheduled for release on the PC and the Xbox in the fall of 2002. We'll post more information about the game as it becomes available.
