Rainbow Six Quarantine Will Get A Name Change, Ubisoft Confirms, But It's Not Parasite
"Rainbow Six Parasite" is only an internal placeholder name that accidentally made its way into the public.
Ubisoft has confirmed it will change the name of Rainbow Six Quarantine, but the leaked title Rainbow Six Parasite is not going to be the new name.
A spokesperson for Ubisoft told PCGamesN that "Parasite" is only a placeholder that Ubisoft's internal teams are using to describe the new name.
"Recently, we ran an internal test for the game and some of its details became public. We can confirm this is a glimpse of the upcoming game, and we will share more details, including the official name, soon," Ubisoft said.
Ubisoft management stated on an earnings call recently that the French company was exploring the possibility of changing the name Quarantine to something else, due in part to the real-world global health crisis.
Rainbow Six Quarantine was also delayed last fall, now aiming for release by March 2021. The actual subject matter of Rainbow Six Quarantine is similar to Ubisoft's hit Rainbow Six Siege, but with a PVE approach that pits your squad against a legion of inhuman creatures.
Quarantine will be just the latest Ubisoft game to change its name in as many years, as the publisher previously changed Gods & Monsters to Immortals: Fenyx Rising. That change, however, was driven in part by legal issues with Monster Energy.
