Rachel McAdams Returns In Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness - Report
McAdams will reprise her role as Dr. Christine Palmer. Doctor Normal, if you like.
Actress Rachel McAdams will return for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after months of speculation, Deadline reports. She'll join a host of other returning actors, including star Benedict Cumberbatch.
In the first Doctor Strange, McAdams played the role of Dr. Christine Palmer. She was Strange's ex-lover and fellow surgeon. Palmer acted as a grounding character for Strange as he left behind his career as a brain surgeon to become Sorcerer Supreme. She played a small role in the film, leaving us speculating until this confirmation about whether or not she would return.
Confirmed cast members include Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch and Xochitl Gomez. Both Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Eijofor are expected to return as well. Sam Raimi is set to direct, returning to superhero comics for the first time since Spider-Man 3, replacing Scott Derrickson. Derrickson left earlier this year due to "creative differences." Cumberbatch will also appear as Doctor Strange in the third Spider-Man movie, which is quickly collecting cast members, including Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx as Electro, and J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 25, 2022, though with the COVID-19 pandemic delaying so many movies, that could very well shift in the interim.
