The date and place have been set for this year's QuakeCon. The massive celebration of gaming will take place August 12-15 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.

This year's convention boasts 1,000 more seats for the LAN party/tournament, bringing the total to 3,000. Event producers also plan a full 24-hour itinerary for the four-day convention, including competitions, workshops, demonstrations, presentations, and contests. The focus of the convention continues to be id Software products (id is the convention's sponsor) and will include Quake, Quake II, Quake III: Arena, Quake III: Team Arena, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Registration, limited to 5,000 people, will be first come, first served (and it's all free). The registration servers will open for business on April 14.
