Puzzle Quest piecing together Wii, PS2, PC

D3Publisher set to bring popular role-playing puzzler to new platforms and mobile phones in early 2008.

Last May, D3Publisher announced it would be bringing many of its games to Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade. The highest-profile title in the 360-bound bunch was the breakout hit Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords. Previously, the Bejeweled-inspired puzzler with role-playing game sensibilities was available only on the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable.

Apparently realizing it has a sleeper hit on its hands, D3 today announced that Wii, PlayStation 2, PC, and mobile versions of Puzzle Quest are also in the pipe. The recently acquired Vicious Cycle, which developed the PSP version of Puzzle Quest, will rework the gem-jangling puzzler for the Wii and PS2, while THQ's ValuSoft and THQ Wireless studios will cover the PC and mobile versions, respectively.

Puzzle Quest for the Wii, PS2, PC, and mobile platforms will be available in "early 2008," while the Xbox 360 version is still slated to release "later this year." The game has been rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older on all platforms. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
