During The Game Awards 2017, Bluehole showed off the first gameplay trailer for PUBG's new desert map. You can check out the footage in the video embed above--and you'll be able to play it sooner than you might have expected, provided you're willing to venture onto test servers.

The new map, Miramar, has now launched on PC through the game's test servers. It will be available on Xbox One in early 2018. Bluehole has also confirmed that the 1.0 version of PUBG will launch on December 20. As previously announced, the game comes to Xbox One through the Game Preview program on December 12. You don't have to wait for it to launch to start buying items for it, though.

Whereas the one existing map, Erangel, has lush forests and lots of green, Miramar is quite different in terms of layout and design. "We wanted to go the opposite direction of having lush fields and forests and arrived at the harsh and unforgiving desert of what we can now reveal is Miramar," Bluehole said.

Finally, Bluehole provided a new sales update for PUBG , confirming that it has sold 24 million copies since launch in March. For lots more on The Game Awards, check out our roundups of all the big news and trailers.
