PT-Like Horror Game Allison Road Cancelled

The game "had to be cancelled," its developer says; more details coming later this week.

The PT-style horror game Allison Road has been canceled, its developer reported on Twitter.

No explanation for the delay was provided, but the tweet mentioned that a further statement on the matter is coming soon.

"Hi all. Sadly Allison Road had to be cancelled," the tweet said. "Statement to come in the next few days. Thx for all your support and very sad it came to this."

The fan project got off the ground on Steam Greenlight in 2015. It initially turned to Kickstarter for funding, though developer Lilith later partnered with Worms developer Team 17 for a traditional publishing deal.

"Working with Team 17 will give us the chance to make our game unhindered creatively, but at the same time will give us the resources, support, and experience that only a 25-year-old studio can give," Lilith said in October 2015.

The original plan was for Allison Road to be released on PC before the end of 2016, followed by Mac, Linux, and console ports after that.

As for PT, it was a teaser/demo for the canceled Silent Hills, and was taken off of PlayStation Network in April 2015.

We'll report back later this coming week with more details on Allison Road's cancellation when they're announced.

I guess it's up to Kojima and Sony to make the silent hills game we've all been waiting for.

@Bilal100:

Not silent hill because the ip unfortunately is still owned by konami. A spritual successor would be the next best thing.

@jonnybrownieboy: yes I know, that's what I meant. Given the context of my statement, one can ascertain that I'm talking about a spiritual successor (''the silent hills game we've.....'') here ''the silent hills game'' instead of just ''silent hills'' refers to a Spiritual Successor and not the game itself.

If it was because of Konami somehow, I will swear off all future Konami products. Personally, that's just betraying me a little too far. I've played your games. I still have your cheat code memorized from needing it to beat Contra on my old NES. It's bad enough you took one of my favorite game series, MGS, and butchered it - especially it's ending. And you stopped P.T., which looked amazing and many of us were psyched for. AND you declared your intent to mostly abandon gaming in favor of gambling machines. But to also go so far as to prevent anyone else from making similar games because you won't do it anymore? That's just too much for me to make excuses for.

@soluafin: Konami has already abandoned gsmers. There are Pachinko machines of Castlevania, Silent hill, Contra, and Metal gear solid. Konami literally let a machine push them in that direction. I wouldnt buy another Konami game if they remade silent hill and gamespot gave it a 10. I love the Silent hills series but it was buried when Silent Hills was cancelled and a Silent Hills Pachinko machine showed up. Konami will never see my pockets again. Rest in pieces Konami!

@se7en1989: They had a Kickstarter, but cancelled it. So any backers wouldn't have been charged.

"Will explain later"= Konami sent their goons to scare the crap out of us, and we got really, really scared.

Seriously, I wouldn't put it past Konami. That company has proven time and again that they are out of their minds. They would probably try to silence somebody even talking about P.T.

Or, I suppose, it could simply be that anything associated in any way with P.T. is CURSED. Either possibility is entirely plausible.

@jayskoon93: small company vs giant company, the first cannot afford any risk the other can easily afford some risk, Infinite Warfare may not appeal to everyone, but it will sell a lot

@baral-o: I'm not sure that's ENTIRELY true. Like the guy below me said, most smaller companies take bigger risks to try and get their name out there as an ambitious company. If they just sat still and let all the huge established companies make all of the big drastic moves, then they would never get noticed.

@baral-o: Actually, the small companies usually take more risk than those big ones. That's why COD is always the same thing, and the indie scene is growing.

I'm pretty sure Konami hasn't really pulled the plug on the P.T. game, and this has something to do with that.

@REDShadowG: Nah this looked like a typical first person horror game. Only other similarity was the female ghost antagonist. GTA and CoD clones have gotten away with far worse. Dying Light is literally Dead Island with parkour but they got away with that too.

@poorkingz: Far from a typical first person horror game. Look at Outlast, Layers of Fear, Amnesia, SOMA. They all have their distinct style while being the same genre. On this game however, not only the setting, the antagonist, the atmosphere but also the overall progression was a total ripoff, that is the general consensus on Reddit/YT or whatever.

Dying Light is a ripoff of Dead Island because the same people made both games lmfao.

Konami's MIB came to forbid the development of Allison Road. Dead threads everywhere. People are silence, panic running up the Hills. Stay tune.

I'm not sure why everyone is assuming that this cancellation was because of Konami. While this game was a "spiritual successor" to PT, just being a "kind of similar horror game" doesn't violate any copyrights or similar laws. Obviously we'll need to wait for details, but this was probably due to any number of the typical reasons why any game gets cancelled.
