Psygnosis WipEs-out

Psygnosis' designers race to complete WipEout 2097; our demo gives you a taste of this "hovercraft" extraveganza.

Comments

GameSpot News has recently gotten its hands on a demo of the PC version of Psygnosis' high-tech racing game WipEout 2097 (called WipEout XL in the States).

The demo (see link at right) is Direct 3D compliant, so if your machine is set up with the proper hardware, the game's scrolling 3-D tracks may appear so believable that there's a good chance you might get a case of the roller coaster swirlies.

Sources at Psygnosis have informed GameSpot News that they are burning the midnight oil to get the full release out, which should be at the end of June. Psygnosis has also informed GS News that, because of the technical complexity involved in translating the game from its original PlayStation incarnation, the game's much-lauded techno soundtrack could not be included. While some may mourn this fact, others who are prone to thumping-drum-induced fits of nausea will appreciate its absence.
