This sale highlights the extra cost added for console games. Steam has had several LEGO game sales in the past year with the majority of the catalog selling for $5 each. Newer games, like Jurasic World run for about $14 and brand new games run for about $30-45 depending on how new.

Many of these games on PSN would qualify as $5 games on Steam, but cost more due to the console tax. This tax exists because of the licensing fees developers/publishers pay to the console manufacturers for the privilege of having their game available on the platform. we can't really get around this without paying more for the console hardware up front or dealing with some other business model to make up for lost revenue that the manufacturers get from those licensing fees that make up losses for sold hardware.

People don't want to pay >$500 for a new console. So licensing fees are here to stay until someone comes up with a better option that works for customer, developer/publisher, and manufacturer.

Oh yeah... These LEGO games may be very similar to each other, but they each have their own uniqueness that makes each worth a play. They are great co-op and family games.
