PS5 Slim Release Date Reportedly Leaked
The smaller PS5 goes on sale soon.
The PlayStation 5's new "slim" model may launch early in November. Dataminer bilbil-kun said the new slimmed-down PS5 will launch on November 10 in the US. This date reportedly applies to both versions of the console, including the one with a disc drive and the all-digital unit.
The report (via VGC) added that the PS5 slim bundle with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will launch two days before then, on November 8. This bundle is priced at $560.
The slimmed-down PS5 with a Blu-ray disc drive will cost $500 at launch, with the digital edition going for $450. These will be the default PS5 consoles going forward, with the chunkier models being phased out. Sony will also sell a standalone disc drive for $80, for anyone buying the new digital edition and seeking to add a disc drive later.
The new PS5s have been "reduced in volume by more than 30%, and weight by 18% and 24% compared to the previous models," and both will offer a 1TB SSD for increased storage.
There will also be a Modern Warfare III PS5 bundle launching on November 10 alongside the game, at least in Europe.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20, which is proving to be a big day for new first-party releases; Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. Wonder also debuts on October 20.
