PS4/Xbox One/PC Versions of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 Arrive This Week

Marvel confirms current-gen releases for its superhero beat-em-ups.

Both Marvel Ultimate Alliance games are indeed being re-released, and they'll be out this week on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Listings for new versions of the games were discovered on the website for Taiwan's game ratings board in June, signaling that both action-RPGs were headed to current-gen platforms. Marvel confirmed the news as part of Comic-Con this weekend, although those hoping for full-blown remasters may be disappointed with the specifics.

"We wanted these re-releases to be as faithful to the original Ultimate Alliance games as possible--the definitive versions," executive producer Mike Jones said on Marvel's website. "However, the team did work really hard on improving performance, some UI and graphic enhancements, as well as making the games compatible with modern platform features on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. They play really smooth."

Both games support local and online co-op and are due out tomorrow, July 26, for $40 each. They'll also be available as part of a bundle that consists of the two for $60. It's unclear if they'll be getting physical and digital releases, but we'll report back once we know more.

Jones said these re-releases come in response to fan demand. He also teased that a brand-new game in the series could eventually be made: In response to a question if these re-releases point toward a "new beginning for Ultimate Alliance as a franchise," Jones said, "Following the footsteps of a proud Marvel tradition, I’ll say: Anything is possible, true believers!"

Yeah, that's a big negative at $40.00 each.

Especially on PC when you can play Marvel Heroes for free. Not saying MH is better, but it's a potentially cheaper substitute.

Price point on these games are silly as hell, $40 for a game that came out 10 years ago. on top of that the port is not even done well, controller support on PC is pretty poor which is saying a lot considering it was a console game to begin with. Get it on a $9.99 steam sale sorry but I'm not paying $39.99 or $59.99 for the bundle. If it was a $29.99 bundle I would probably do that.

60 dollars, missing DLC for MUA1, not much of a graphical improvement, digital only. What a waste. I am fine with remasters that are done well but these stealth released Activision remasters are terrible.

I played UA on xbox an never had access to those sweet characters like Hulk and the rest. I played the crap out of that game, unlocked everything there was to unlock, great game. UA2 was pretty bad tho, barely touched it.

I'd like to play again but for 40$ ? That's a total rip off.

Don't bother with the PC port yet, it's riddled with game bugs, audio glitches, and sadly Xbox One controller issues (buttons do not work, some are reversed; broken).

If they added x-men legends 1 & 2, I would have thought about it. Plus mods were part of the fun post storyline if you had the pc version.

This annoys me as i love these games and still own them. Had physical copies and bought digital versions a while after selling the physical copies.

Microsoft decided to do a cool thing with backwards compatibility, you go on xbox.com vote for games you want to be backwards compatibe, then Microsoft (try to) make it happen. It seems the trend now though is that certain companies are checking the votes to see how many people are interested in certain old games, and instead of just letting microsoft make them backwards compatible(which takes no effort on their part and could lead to digital sales of old games) choose to sell overpriced versions of said old games.

This is happening more frequently. Darksiders 2(who asked for that) The 2 prototype games, now the marvel ultimate alliance games. fair enough if they are going to give them a proper upgrade and all DLC included (dead island, skyrim) dead island collected edition on xboxone is £25 thats a bargain but activision are taking the piss, and ripping off fans, while putting in minimal effort

@spasticus162: proto-type games have been on PC since before xbox one was even a thing. Proto-type 2 launched on PC along with consoles at the time and so did Darksiders 2, I know b/c I own all those titles and I bought them on launch day for PC so I'm not sure where you get that from.

It is great that these games are getting released for current generation consoles and PC, but the price tag is ridiculous and it is a shady deal due to the fact that there won't be much value addition.

The only things that can make me buy the game would be having all DLC/platform exclusive heroes and missions within the games from the get go, and a fully customizable pro/anti registration roster in the 2nd game.

@metallinatus: Because they're selling each game at $40 despite not even being remastered (only optimized to play on the current gen), which is the price everyone else sells re-releases that have at least had some graphical overhauls.

@metallinatus: That's still $30 per game, which is the price most companies sell rereleases of games that are fully remastered and with the original glitches removed and with all DLC included. Activision is selling the original, non-remastered games just upscaled for modern resolution, lacking all the DLC in the first game, and with all the bugs that existed in the games ten years ago (meaning they didn't even bother playtesting it for current release). It's definitely not worth $60 bucks. This is coming from someone who absolutely loved this series of games (started with the first X-Men Legends) and was originally so happy to see it released before seeing the quality of the released product. It breaks my heart to have to recommend against buying it instead of recommending for it.

The original is one of my favorite games of its era. The second game? It's fine too. I'll definitely grab this on PS4 if only for the community revival around it.
