Q.U.B.E. ², the sequel to the first-person puzzle game Q.U.B.E, is coming to the PlayStation 4 and will support the console's Project Morpheus VR device, developer Toxic Games announced via the PlayStation Blog.

Toxic Managing Director Dan Da Rocha said that now that the team is wrapping up development on the Director's Cut of the original game, which will release on PS3 and PS4 by the end of the year, it is shifting focus to Q.U.B.E. ².

He added that the sequel is going to refine the core mechanics of the original with new puzzles and a "tightly woven narrative" that will expand on the Q.U.B.E. universe. The game is being developed on Unreal Engine 4 and will support Project Morpheus. "We’ve already taken the hardware for a spin and it’s shaping up to be something fantastic so we can’t wait to get our hands (or gloves?) on a kit to begin developing for it!" he said.

Q.U.B.E., if you haven't played it, is very much like Valve's Portal in that it's a first-person puzzle game divided into a series of chambers. Rather than a portal gun, your character is equipped with a special glove that's able to manipulate colored cubes in the environments with different physical properties. You can find GameSpot's full review of the game here.

Toxic Games didn't say when and for what other platforms it plans to release Q.U.B.E. ². The original game, already out for PC and Mac, is set to launch on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Wii U, and iOS later this year.

Are you the same guy that said you owned all new consoles, or was it just PC and X1?

<< LINK REMOVED >> WOW you are stupid, first of all Sony is not a dying brand and if so explain 10 million Playstation 4 sold in 9 months. It's selling better than the Playstation 2 and the PS2 is the best selling console of all time. Also before you say Sony is in the red explain this << LINK REMOVED >>. So your analogy is completely false.

Project Morpheus VR is true gaming innovation unlike the 'wave hands and talk' kinect. Your auto suggestion won't work on us. We deal in facts, such the real lame hardware inside the XB1. There's your dying brand right there.

I'll have to see the Morpheus in action before I make a judgement. Has a price been hinted at?

According to some it's between $200-$300, but so far just rumors.

While I hope your right, I see it coming out in late 2016, just because the technology is not were it needs to be yet.

i'm optimistic about this, it really is one of thoes "see it, to believe it" scenarios. i got a short go on the rift and i gota say its alot of run, games that are first person will really immersive then again you get motion sickness very easily too.

Bit hard to get excited for this when the actual VR headset is probably several years off still.

VR is not going to take off. im telling you it wont. This is something that needs to be done in the future IMO not now.

I agree, the technology is not were it needs to be. I'm looking at it coming out in late 2016 early 2017.

Cause at this time, if you tried to move around like you would in most current FPS you would get sick.

<< LINK REMOVED >> now is the future, as every second goes by. I'm sure someone said way back that people will never fly or reach the moon.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Now is the perfect time, im sure both the Oculus Rift and the Morpheus will succeed. So much money and expertise behind VR these days + hundreds of thousands of people who wants this to happen world wide.

So they're planning on adding a story since they got knocked for not having one last time. Seems fair - perhaps the sequel will be a stronger game (I didn't play 1, just going off the review)
