Real-time strategy games have generally remained on PC, and consoles have gotten only a few good ones through the years. However, PS4 owners now have another one to look forward to: publisher Kalypso has revealed Sudden Strike 4 and announced that it's coming to PS4 alongside PC.

In a press release, the publisher stated that Sudden Strike 4 isn't a reboot or a reimagining of the Sudden Strike series. Instead, it's a "a full-fledged series entry." And just like the other Sudden Strike games, this one tasks you with battling through World War II scenarios. You'll be able to take control of one of four different armies: American, British, Soviet, or German.

In addition, the game features a lot of different historical weaponry and vehicles, such as the German bomber Heinkel He111, the Russian T-34 tank, the British Hawker Typhoon fighter plane, and the German Panzerkampfwagen VI tank.

fighters, bombers, and tanks. You'll also choose between nine different commanders, such as American General George Patton, to lead your armies. Each will have different abilities and perks.

Sudden Strike 4 has three different game modes. There is a single-player campaign with 20 scenarios, a skirmish mode that tasks you with completing challenges, and competitive multiplayer.

Although the first three Sudden Strike games were developed by Fireglow, Kite Games is working on Sudden Strike 4. Kite was formed in 2014 and is composed of many members from the now-defunct StormRegion, which made titles like SWINE and Rush for Berlin. The last numbered game in the Sudden Strike series, Sudden Strike 3, launched back in 2008.

Sudden Strike 4 launches in mid-2017 for PS4 and PC, but you can preorder it now on Steam. A preorder includes a 15 percent discount, an exclusive skirmish map, a digital download of the game's soundtrack, and a digital art book.
