Extending its win streak another month, Sony's PlayStation 4 was the top-selling home console in the United States for February, according to NPD data released today.

Sony did not have a statement to share, but a representative confirmed that the PS4 was the No. 1 overall home console in the US in terms of sales for February.

In its own statement, Microsoft said global Xbox One game hours in February jumped 11 percent year-over-year, while global unique multiplayer users reached 35 percent-plus growth compared to last year. Xbox marketing boss Mike Nichols called out Halo Wars 2, For Honor, and Grand Theft Auto IV (in backwards compatibility) as helping drive engagement on Xbox One during the month.

A week from today, the NPD Group will announce the top-selling games for February 2017. We'll report back with more details as they become available.

Own 3 systems Pro, X1 S and Wii U. Sony has done great especially in the last couple of months with all these great games. MS has kinda slacked off with all these added features which are good but do good games outside of multiplat. And the Wii U only picked up steam because of Zelda. My PS4 is the most used, the Wii U only with Zelda and my S is a 4K Blu Ray player and entertainment device. I play 360 games on it. I wanted Scalebound but cancelled and I am looking forward to Cuphead. What happened to MS after the 360? the 360 was great. X1 is so-so. This is why I am on the fence about a Scorpio. I don't want Scorpio like the Switch until I see some games worth playing

@dhaynes25: The games worth playing on the Scorpio, will be ALL of them, cause the exclusives will look better than any console's exclusives, and multiplats will all look better on Scorpio. If you have a 4k and/or 4k HDR TV and you stick with your PS4 for multiplats your settling for an inferior experience. What exactly do you think was so great and different about the 360 that the One is not having in terms of games? The One has multiple more years of library growth and has only been out for half of 360's primary lifespan, and from what I see it's got all the same 3rd party support, and the 1st party stuff like your Halo's and Gears is all present and accounted for...there are forthcoming announcements this year from MS for new titles and new IP.

@NeonicTrash: What first party games? Sony has pumped out more exclusive only titles and first party games than MS has so far. I didn't buy an X1 S for 360 games. I want to play those franchises plus more on the X1. Microsoft hasn't delivered on the X1 as promised. Games look better on the PS4 and for the most part plays better. I am not a homer as you seem to be. Sony has dominated MS from top to bottom. If the X1 S is a better overall system it doesn't show in the support department. Sony has dominated the 3 three months of this year with what GAMES. Parts of 2016 GAMES. Thats all I care about. 360 had GAMES. 360 was dominant until Sony got their act together. I like my X1 S for some games and any 360 games I may have missed but as the numbers show Sony has them fairly dominated in sales and exclusives. Majority of those games are not coming to MS. I am a gamer. I own all 3 systems(no Switch). Each has their strengths and weaknesses. Sony has the games. Thats the important thing

@dhaynes25: Why would you waste away you time watching half ass 4k through the XboxS? Get a real 4K Blu-ray player or at least a decent one.

@RustedTruck650: it's the only 4k blurry player that plays games.

It does a good job compared to my 4k bluray in my bedroom. Who said it was half assed?

@RustedTruck650: Because he bought a console capable of watching 4k content, not one capable of kinda-quasi-nearly-sorta 4k?

@sealionact: The Pro plays 4K games and movies, except 4K blu-rays.

@ButDuuude: It plays highly compressed streamed movies, and a lot of games are upscaled - not native 4k - because pro doesn't have the grunt for true 4k gaming. Doesn't look bad, but it's a big compromise compared to 4k Bluray and native 4k.

@RustedTruck650: The S is a pretty good 4K player. My 4k/HDR TV works perfectly well with my S. Movies look great even compared to my brother's Samsung 4K Blu Ray player on the same TV. My brother just refuses to buy an Xbox
